Not sure what happened. Earlier today the temp spiked high (102.58f) and that killed the chicken chick.

The temperature inside the egg was likely higher than that since the heat pad will move the heat into the egg. You might want to try a water wiggle toy and a brinsea spot check probe to see what the internal temperature of the egg is in a setup like this

I used a Braun ear thermometer to check shell temp and it was so high that the Braun couldn't read it. A couple of minutes later it read 104.5.
