Homemade incubator

I made a cheap and easy still air out of a Sterlite container. It was around $20 to make and I am happy with it so far. I am on day 17 of my first batch and they're all developing well. My temp stays pretty stable now that I moved it out from under a draft

Just click on my name and check out my posts. I believe it was one of my first few posts on here that explained how I made it.

Here is my second trial. This was mainly to test some of my ideas on a larger model. Later on when I have the spare time I am going to build one with three auto egg turners and a seperate hatcher in the same cabinet. Plus I am going the make the outside of it out of harwood lumber so it is more pleasing to the eyes.

Now that's a great incubator!! More pictures please! And more in depth about the construction of it.

Does the top rack get a little warmer then the middle one? Or does it heat evenly as it rises?

I'd like to see how you attached the dowels to the trays and what you use to lock the position.

That's kind of the idea I had for trays, but I'd like to make them either higher or enclosed so chicks don't fall out.

What would your humidity be with/without the 4 sponges in there?

guys,

im on the look out for a plastic cooler box but ebay has a number of polystyrene boxes. i only want to try & hatch 3 or 4 eggs to start. any idea on a good size box? they list alot of them in litres & not in size (even then, i dont know how big it needs to be)

Why not find a thrift store. I was in one yesterday and saw two coolers that would be perfect for a bator. Or see if anyone you know has an Omaha Steaks box.

I got my Omaha steak coolers for free off craigslist. Just ask for one in the wanted section.
