I got 2 easter eggers, whose father is a splashed Ameraucana and mother is either a saphire gem or other breed. The first chick grew really fast and in just 1 month, showed a red comb and even started to crow. So I rehomed that definite cockerel. By comparison, I think the other chick is surely a pullet. However, now it is 9 weeks old, and the remaining one looks like in the picture. The tail feather seems like a roo, and is the red comb a sign of roo at this age? Thank you.

Do all kids from the same parents mature at the same rate?
That is a good parody. These 2 chicks have different tail feather and wing feather pattern when they were about 1 week old, which a lot of people using as a method to distinguish gender. So even though I know the method is not reliable, it at least should guarantee I have at least one pullet
