Homemade Incubators?

I'm wondering if anyone has any resources, articles, or personal experience with making and using a DIY incubator yourself, because it's something I'm considering. I can get hatching eggs, but not chicks for a few months, and I'm impatient.

Go to the Learning Center Under the "Articles" tab and look for examples. Once you decide on what you want to try, start a new thread in this section so we can discuss details.

There are a lot of articles in that section. I scrolled through 7 pages before I came to one about homemade incubators and I don't think it is what you are looking for. You may need patience for your search.

I made one myself years ago using an old cooler, light kit, hot water heater thermostat. Not difficult at all. The light provides the heat and the thermostat regulates the temp by turning the light on and off. I still have it.

Good thing to remember with homemade incubators is that sometimes you have to unplug it all and start over when the temperatures don't equalize.

Here is my second go. now it works...

Hi Mountain Roost, By adding the Tin cans over your bulbs, did it increase the temperature inside the incubator? Easy to control heat that way?
