and i have an incubator question:

once the chicks are taken out of an incubator do they NEED to go to a brooder or can they go to there momma's right away?

A momma that didn't hatch them herself is more likely to kill babies than care for them. So yes- they will need to be brooded.

If you have a broody who will accept them, it is said you can do that, but it is riskier than brooding them yourself.

It is a natural process and you will find that not all breeding lines of hens are broody. For the sake of production it has been bred out of them. Better get the brooder fired up!
