Homemade Peafowl Hatcher (Pics galore)

I had to use this new hatcher over the weekend. It worked GREAT and no issues with being there to identify peachicks at the moment they hatch anymore. I'm hoping to tidy up some wiring and then stain and clear this contraption before this weekend when a HUGE batch of eggs will be hatching early next week. It may seem frivolous to some but for me since I breed true color to color and 5 of the colors are black shoulders it can become a nightmare seeing all yellow peachicks in a group wondering which chick came from which egg. The ZOO MED temp-humidity controller is dead on according to 2 other thermometers that also reads rh levels. Finally I have a useful hatcher that serves my individual purpose. But I had to make it myself.

Well, if you want it to work the way you need it, it is usually best to make it yourself. Well done FBC, and glad that it worked out for you. Happy hatching!

I got another 2x4" tonight along with 4 castor wheels. Had to check my records and only had about 12 ornamental pheasant eggs due before the weekend so tomorrow night I'll add the legs and get stain on it before Friday when about 40 more pea eggs have to go in.And I promise I will get pics.Seems my home pc here will only load windows in the safe-networking mode and I don't know if I can get pics off the memory card and uploaded.

Okay last nite I finally made some legs for this and attached small castor wheels so it can be moved around. It was so tempting to stay in the ac last night but with getting rain here every 2 days the darn grass in the yard won't stop growing. So since I knew tonight would be mowing night I finally finished up the hatcher and took it off the cart I had been building it on. If I get done mowing tonight early enough I plan to get both coats of stain applied but with the humidity we have I doubt it will dry enough to start applying the clear yet tonight. My next group of eggs is due to start pipping about Saturday and this is the largest group of eggs thus far all year. We had a power outage a month ago and that really hurt the last 3 hatches, as evidenced by this group of eggs that have developed and not quit. I will try to get some before and after pics to show and this should end this building project.

Got it stained last night and one coat of clear sealer on it tonight. I have a group of eggs inside it due to hatch over the weekend so may lay off another outside sealer coat until hatch is over.It looks purty enough to bring inside the house here with it's brass door handles and rope LED inside lite on. Not to mention those 12 seperate compartments with diffrent colored eggs inside each one starting to pip. Kuntrygirl,,this will be a vino hatch-a-long here this weekend,,you in?

I just put eggs in my bator yesterday. I normally move eggs out of the incubator at day 23-24 and then put into this homemade hatcher. I disenfected it last fall but still need to get it back out, plug it in and make sure the fogger works properly for humidity and the heater works okay..If you can wait another few weeks I will get picks of it with eggs inside(only 5 peacock eggs this first week) and maybe 15 ornamental pheasant eggs.) When we are in full hatching mode this little gem only gets shut off about 3 days each week. Buying distilled water for the fogger gets to be a pain to remember to buy all the time.
