Homemade?!

I've incubated with nothing more than a plastic tote and a utility lamp, the kind that you can clamp onto a surface to adjust height. I simply placed a small object under the tote and moved that object a couple of times a day to a different location under the tote, which effectively 'turned' (rocked) the eggs. I used a thermometer placed at the top of the eggs to ensure the correct temperature.
This was an emergency situation where the mother hen died atop her clutch that she'd been brooding for about 1 1/2 to 2 weeks. Despite the history, two-thirds of the clutch hatched.
