Loved the intro! We're glad you're here!
Yes you never know when you will wake up to a foot or more of snow, clear skies the night before, clear skies that morning! When I tell people I garden at 7,600, I often get that “nod” that says: you’re crazy for even trying, but I admire your determination! There are days that I open the coop and the birds stare at 18” of snow. Then they make that descending “brrrr…” trilling sound of disapproval, turn on their heels and return to roost.![]()
One of my favorite songs! I just aged myself. Oh wait, you did that.Hi see you’re a “silkie mom”. I stumbled into having two silkies in my flock this year. I will do my best to peacefully integrate them with my standard birds. If I can’t, I will diligently search for a more appropriate silkie home. They are such sweet and funny birds, I just want them to be happy and not be bullied. They look like the ladies from ABBA in their bell bottom days. I see them and can’t help singing “she’s the dancing queen!”
Hello & Welcome to BYC!Your ranch sounds amazing. It's a great thing you're doing caring for homeless dogs
And I love your profile pic!
Yes, especially the first big snow of the year. My hens avoid that snow like it’s molten lava.Yes you never know when you will wake up to a foot or more of snow, clear skies the night before, clear skies that morning!Snow will always be a scary monster to avoid for chickens.
