I have seen that video before. It is disgusting and cruel way to remove the feathers!! And, there is no need in his case... simply clipping a few flight feathers (same as people do with parrots) would have sufficed.

For now I think I am just going to leave his tail feathers how they are because him and his hen are my best breeders, so since I do not want to lose them, they will not be flying for the time being.

if you just yank healthy feathers it can hurt and bleed.

These feathers with the shaft filled with blood are the ones referred to never cut or pull one as it can result in the birds demise.
