Homing your cockerels....Advice Needed

Hello,

I am starting a flock, and I ended up with about 5 cockerels. I can only keep one in my flock. I would like suggestions on the best way to home them. Do I charge for each chick or do I offer to a good home? If I do charge, what is a reasonable price? They are Plymouth Barred Rock and Orpingtons. I did leave a note on the local feed store cork board in my town. Thanks for any advice.

Depends on your market, and area. Eventually the market gets flooded with rooster that everyone wants a good home for, but there's never enough.

I'd look at your local craigslist to see what people are selling them for. More often than not you will need to offer them free for the taking. Personally we butcher extra roosters. I think it's less stressful than giving them to others who will probably do the same.
