Honey died yesterday...

Our chicken Honey died last night. My poor children were so upset. She had been sick for some time and the Vet suspected she had an issue with her liver so we did the best we could for her until her time came. It was so sad. My son was so stoic, he ran right over and picked her up and held her. As I was digging the hole, my daughter who was holding the flashlight, was crying to hard the beam of light was everywhere else but pointed at the hole.

All be it the "Circle of Life" it's still a bit tough to take some times.

I recently lost my bunny "mary anne" and i too sat on a wet mound of dirt while my son dug her grave.
I held her and wept and heaved till he took her from me.

All my 6 of chickens were killed by a weasel one night I had to bury them the next morning and there was still tos of snow on the ground. I'm still not sure how I managed to do it. We all feel for your loss. At least you knew she was sick and had some time to "prepare" it sounds like she went off a bit easier/more natural than some.
