Honeydew you?

I've been trying out all kinds of snacks on my girls from scratch grains, mowed grass, celery, lettuce leaves and cabbage stalk and leaves, trail mix, bird seed (in small quantities) and honeydew melon which is so far the winner in our flock. Oh I forgot about the mealworms. They were the by far the Grand Prize favorites!
I heard watermelon is a favorite which I am trying to grow but I don't think it will , due to Southwestern Washington's "short" Summer. Grapes are way too expensive these days for me to give them to the chickens and we like them too much. I do give them cut up raisins though. Any other suggestions for low cost snacks?

I noticed bird seed (small quantities) and your reason for small quantities ???. Other than that you have your chicks feasting on some REALLY GOOD STUFF. Only thing I did not see in your list is dill. My girls will go head over heels to get to dill. Its like a SHARK FEEDING FRENZY .. Suggestions on low cost snacks.!!! All produce and fruit you mentioned is good for your chickens. You may visit your grocer and ask about some of the past prime cuts that you may get discounted or free.
I THINK YOUR GIRLS ARE SPOILED AND HAPPY.

Thanks Cavemanrich! I don't have any dill readily available but perhaps I should try growing some. My garden isn't really much of a success but I'm still hoping it will succeed. You are correct that my do get spoiled as is my honey and my dog. Thanks for the feedback.
