Well, our new peacock is getting a bit more assertive. I saw him displaying for quite awhile this morning. Our new peahen seems unimpressed, though she did manage to make her way around to his front side as she was foraging for goodies on the barn floor. Every time she got a little closer, he'd shake his tail feathers and make them rattle. He would also kind of cup them so they'd kind of surround her. Then, he let out a big HONK, and chased after her. She ran away tout-sweet. I guess he figured she was ready, but I think he misread her! Poor guy, got rejected.

When will she be ready, or does she not like him "that way" after all? Is my boy in the "friend zone"?

It's all about the pursuit, she and only she will decide when to give into his advances, just when he is about to give up she will give in at least that is what i observed here in a free range situation.

Ah, so she's playing hard to get. Hm....well, she came with two eggs and has laid one more since she's been here but since then, no new eggs yet.
