Hooded Merganser Ducks

I'm looking for as much information from anyone who keeps, have kept, or plan to keep them. I have a good idea but I like to hear other tips so I do it correctly and not end up with dead birds.. Just a picture of a mature drake for the people who are new to ornamental waterfowl.

Well pen size is a big debate. I want two pair in a 16x16x6 with a 8x8x3 pond. Also is their any good ways to keep the pond crystal clear? Also why do the drakes seem to die so easily? Also brooding tips/incubation tips? Thanks

You want them to breed Well? I would suggest to get 1 male with 2 female this is how I do it, the pond doesn't need to be cristal clear,if you clean it once s week you will be fine, pond size: the bigger the better and the deeper the better.
And in regard to stop them from dying inport europian food food divers and your problem would be fixed, and good luck if you plan to hand raise them

The pond need to be deep Esp with hooded mergansers, they're diving ducks so they need to dive because it keeps them healthy and happy
