I've never had any experience with pigeons so I can't answer your question but if you ask in the Pigeons and Doves forum you may get your answer!

The only experience I have with pigeons are the ones that hang around my wild birdfeeder. @Chicken Girl1 has given you the best place to ask about your birds.

That's a question I would like the answer to as well. I would imagine once they know where home is they will always return unless some accident/predator befalls them.
