I've seen several threads re: hoop coops when I searched the forum, but before I go jumping the gun, I want to make sure I've got it straight: Hoop coops can be permanent housing for my girls? It looks easy, inexpensive, and like it might be OK for weather in SC, especially since I saw pictures of a few hoop coops in the snow, and we get snow MAYBE once or twice a winter if we're lucky. Do the birds stay warm enough? Input, please!

As long as your flock isn't over crowded, they should work ok. The nice thing is they are portable so you can move them from spot to spot. The birds will be just fine (adult birds). They are fairly well insulated.

we just built one. it ended up being very heavy. hubby has to move it since i can't. we may add wheels or skids. i love mine. the babies only go out when it is warm but seem to like it. i saw several in the snow too so i think you will be fine. we are going to use tarps to insulate. also have corrugated plastic on the top.

Hey snazzy..... I would really like to see a few more photos of your coop. I am designing my own hoop coop and may want to steal an idea or two from you

OMG you just saved my life. I was just about to build a whole new summer coop for my meat birds... but guess what- I have an unused swing set right by my coop! I'm so doing this... I may have to expand it to fit ten birds, but it seems a lot more do-able than what I was going to do!
