Hoosier Henhouse

I am in central Indiana, about 35 miles southwest of Indianapolis. My goal is to allow the chickens and turkeys to free range, but if they begin getting in my neighbors yard (about 150 yards away) I will build an enclosed run.

I got the chickens and turkeys in mid-June and plan on butchering the turkeys a few weeks before Thanksgiving so they won't be getting in each other's way for too long!

I am currently attending school for Electrical Engineering Technology and I built the coop with the future intention of automating it for my senior project. I plan on running power to the coop, adding a rainwater catchment system and having automated features such as coop door, water clean out, food dispenser, fan, and lights. I understand much of that is overkill but it will make for a good project.

Thank you for all of your input! Nice to meet a fellow Hoosier as well @TheAmundsons !

I put the drawing I have done on here @aart . Enjoy!

Us mechanical engineers had a moniker for you electrical/automation engineers,
but I won't post it here. :gig

Maybe you could add temperature/wind speed controlled vent/window closures?

The drawings look good, nice complete dimensions...
...tho they should be outside all object lines and aligned to reduce or eliminate any crossing lines. That takes up sheet space but will be much easier to read.
Adjust your angle dimension precision to 1 or 2 decimal places.
Posts on 6' side view and top view on base don't match up for the 'flush' note.
Not that you asked for a drawing check, but I just can't help myself, no offense intended.
Good job overall.

I am still getting my feet wet, I've only taken one class. It makes the build much easier and precise.

I thought about doing temperature controlled windows and may do that if I have extra time.

One drafting class?
Either you're a natural or you have a good instructor....or a little of both.
I learned to draft on the board, 35 years ago, then started in cadd.

I've done woodworking for a few years and that helps me understand how it needs to be constructed. Just gotta get it on the computer.
