Hi :) I hatched three chicks with my kids for a school project and well... you all know what happens after that! :) After finding good homes for the two roos we had to purchase an extra girl so we could have two laying hens. We've had two for about a year and a half and we just hatched our second batch of chicks this week. We did a small number because we have a small coop and I wanted our broody hen to be able to experience mommy hood since she's been sticking to her nest box faithfully for about two months. :) She's adopted two chicks from the incubator without a hitch and that is were we are at now. A bigger coop is under construction right now and will hopefully be done when the chicks are big enough to need more space. :)

Welcome to BYC! Glad you decided to join our flock. Raising chickens is a great experience for kids. You'll have to post some pics of your coop for us when it's done. Just be sure and predator proof it, using hardware cloth, not chicken wire. Good luck with your flock and your kids.)

Hello :frow and Welcome To BYC! Congratulations on the successful hatch, and good luck with the new coop build!

So glad you could join our community and welcome to our flock!

Most school projects turn out that way - who on earth could resist little chicks? Sounds like you are doing well with yours. Glad you joined the flock.
