Hopalong Cassie broke her knee. What to do?

I really don't know which way you should go.
Do you have any antibiotics on hand that you could treat her with if you did amputate?

Yes we have become quite versed in various medicinal substances including antibiotics that are still available.

Be kind. Put an end to her as quickly as possible. Broken limbs are incredibly painful and amputation risky with more pain.

Hopalong Cassie is dead. Long live Hopalong Cassie. She lived another year after we nursed her back to health. I don't know how my wife did it, but her leg was fine after a couple of months in a splint and cage.

She never laid eggs again though, afawk.

And one sad day last week, we heard her lungs rattling. We went to grab her in the dark for an Oxine nebulizer treatment, but she had already gone to Chicken Valhalla.

She was a brave chicken. We'll miss her.

She was an inspiration to chickens everywhere. At least to ours.

Her recovery from a broken leg was amazing. Nobody here thought she could.

From what I have read from several articles on avian fractures, if there has been a suspected fracture of the intertarsal joint/knee, the bird should be euthanized.
