I had to help her out of her egg today at about 9:00 AM. She hadn't pipped and was peeping her head off. So I decided to help. She had her ambilical cord still stuck to her

and the shell, so we had to snip that off at the very end, and the rest fell off later. She really enjoys human company, which she gets a lot of.

She is drinking a little bit, but I

have to help her. She hasn't eaten barely anything, but I'm still trying. I'll update this story as she gets better or worse.

Ducklings can take a while to gain strength again after hatching. And also may not want to eat for 24- 48 after they emerge from the egg as well. I have also noted that ones that need help to hatch often take a little longer to start walking around than ones who are able to hatch on their own.

Thats little hope is drinking is a good sign. I usually put an eyedropper of water next to their bill- so they can get one drop at a time to keep them hydrated until they aer strong enough to go wandering around the brooder looking for food and water themselves.
