Hi my name is Tracy. I’m not new to having chickens but I still consider myself new as this is the first year I have had chickens long enough to lay eggs!

(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I first got chickens in 2016. I bought a beautiful family of blue silkies, one white hen and rooster silkie and a partridge Silkie rooster with two his two hens. Unfortunately one of my kids left my coop door open in the winter and they were all taken by predators. I purchased some egg layers late last summer as chicks and they are finally ready to lay eggs now that spring is here and producing more than I can eat!
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
I have eight hens and one rooster.
(3) What breeds do you have?
I’m not sure if the breed as they were just labeled “egg layers” at the feed store. Most of my hens are red and I have two that have black and white ripples in their feathers. My rooster is a bantam cross.
(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
Anytime I have questions about chickens this was the best place on the internet.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Painting,crocheting and gardening.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I’m a stay at home mom. I have three beautiful girls. I own a border collie/Mcnabb and a boxer ,two fluffy cats and a miniature pig who thinks my chickens are her family. I have just purchased an incubator for my oldest daughter and we are having a trail run on eggs from our coop and hoping for success. We plan to have another flock of Silkies by the end of summer that she can call her own.
