This is day eight for me, broody hen sitting on eggs I bought on eBay. Mine takes a break every morning but always goes back to the eggs. I get nervous about the eggs cooling while she's gone, but then I read somewhere that it is actually good for them to cool a bit and it's much worse to get too hot. I also have a cochin that sometimes egg-sits while the broody hen is eating and drinking. This is so exciting. I keep obsessing about it but there's not much for me to do except take good care of the hens and hope for the best. I've got chick supplies waiting but don't know what people do about vaccination when you hatch at home. Can you do it yourself? Should I ask the vet where I take my cats?
