Hello, and no, I don’t have any chickens yet.

I live in a suburb area in Houston,Texas (hot and humid weather).
I am trying to buy 3 Silkie chicks this summer. I’m so excited and can’t wait. If anyone knows anything that I absolutely need to know first, I’m all ears!! Thanks.

hello @PoofBallSilkie ! welcome to BYC :frow
Read the articles (there is a button to them at the top of this page) that seem especially relevant - keeping chickens, coop basics, feed basics etc. Then ask questions on anything you don't understand in the relevant forum (button to them at the top of the page likewise)
Good luck! :thumbsup

I agree with aart...this person is the best! Get the coop built, make sure your brooder is in order, lots of fresh water (every day!) and good chick starter. Watch them many, many times a day so you can observe and learn their behaviour (this helps with detecting any changes you can get on quickly). Most of all, enjoy them immensely! Good luck to you:)
