HOPES FOR A BROODY HEN

Wish me luck,I'm leaving eggs in the nest in hopes for a broody hen. Between the Silkie, Australorp, Buff Orpington, Light Sussex the race is on to see who setts first.

I have 3 silkies that are broody

silkies always seem to be broody when you don't want them to be.

Day five and ten eggs in one nest and six in another. No takers yet. One of the BO hens has been spending a lot of time in the nest only to eventually lay an egg, butt it seems like she is taking a long time to lay her egg. She spent at least two hours in there on saturday. Hopefully she will set. Any idea how many eggs a BO can set? They are very spoiled barn dwellers not directly exposed to the elements.
