My first flock was ordered in March at a local feed store. They would be hatched and shipped the next month and were due to arrive on April 25th. It felt like years till the day came and then the store gave me a call to tell me they wouldn't arrive till tomorrow. The next day I went to pick them up in fever of excitement. A small order of.........
2 Black Australorps
2 Buff Orpingtons
2 Speckled Sussex
1 Silkie
1 Easter Egger
(All females)
I got there and they handed me box where light chirping could be heard. It wasn't till I was about to step into the car when I checked it. Only five chicks. I walked back inside and the storkeeper sincerely apologized. After re reading my order he serched out the chicks. Soon all were there except the second Speckled Sussex. I was then told she had died that morning. So I settled for a light brahma. To make up for the inconvenience the storkeeper gave me an extra (light brahma). So I drove home happy

.
Follow along (if you will) as my first flock grows up and explores their new home. Feel free to share your own poultry stories and adventures!
