In the Brooder
I had recently gotten an The Little Giant incubator and put some duck eggs in it that I had stumbled across that were abandoned. My eggs made it all the way up to the internal pip then they died! I have done a ton of research to make sure I had done everything right. Let me tell you a little about my incubator. I noticed that it seemed the water was evaporating rather quickly and the temperature would always fluctuate. It had a digital thermometer built into it so I added my own inside trying to measure temperature and humidity- and trying to get the two to agree was a nightmare. I added green food coloring to the water so I could watch and see how often I had to add water because as it evaporates the edges get darker. Well to my surprise- I woke up the next morning and all the water was leaking from the bottom of the incubator! It was also absorbing the water- I could see the green going up the sides! No I did not overfill it and I did take pictures. I was so upset. I had just put 19 eggs in it! So I am monitoring it closely and waiting for my new incubator to arrive so that I can get it set up and transfer my eggs. I bought the Hovabator 1602-N. Does anyone use that one and if so how has your experience been? I am really hoping for a hatch this time.
