I'm Hoping for chicks...

I have mom partly onboard. Now for the tuff one. Dad. He would say:
"Chickens are food, not pets."
"They will poop on my tractor"
"NO!"

...

Any advice for how to get a yes out of him?
He will still want them for poultry. Can anyone relate and say how they get around it?

Maybe let them be poultry and feed him breakfast daily. Everyone in the family will eventually look at them as pets to some degree.
Mine don't get on the tractor.

Tell him what a good lesson in responsibility it is and how you will do all the work. Provide the family with eggs! Mine don't poop on anything but the ground.

Thanks guys! I'll tell him. I'm going to bring it on slowly though because he won't say yes if I just say, "Hey dad! I want chickens!"

Oh well. I'm going to make him eggs and ask him how good fresh eggs would be as his morning breakfast... I hope it works!!!!

If I do get chickens, I need to be able to now everything I can about the caring and raising of chicks and chickens.

Let them be both food and pets. Get some bantams/layers and some meat birds - just don't name the meat birds.

Ok thanks! I'm an animal lover so I'm trying to find ways for this not to be hard for me.
