Hoping for One Cockerel

Also, poor Carrie. I think I will be trimming her feathers so that she can see. I think being half blind makes her more cautious.

It does make her easier to catch, lol.

Buffy/Angel will be 12 weeks old on Monday. I still think her comb is more pink, and that it would be redder if he is a cockerel. The color is the same as my true blue whiting pullet. Hardly any pink in the black minorca or Andalusian.

I’m enjoying the babies. They are so cute and inquisitive. None of them like to be handled, but I avoided the docile breeds because I don’t want another constantly broody hen.

14 weeks - nothing new. I try to look at the feathers in front of his/her tail - I don’t think they are rounded like they are on a pullets, but it’s hard to tell for sure with his uniform coloring. Andie (who I thought for a long time was a roo just because she is larger and more outgoing) clearly has rounded feathers. I’ll get a volunteer to go out later to help me get a good look at Buffy’s feathers. He’s still the smallest of my pullets - maybe with the hatchery buff minorcas being too small, a rooster will be the same size as other breed hens. He’s a good bit smaller than my black minorca pullet.

If you can handle the buff, you can slide your hand under a single saddle feather and that may be contrast enough to show the shape.

You shouldn't match a buffs color after all 🤣
