Hops and chickens

Hi,
I was wondering if chickens will eat hop plants and if they will are they bad for them. I wanted to grow hops around our chicken run this spring/ summer. Thought it would provide a little shade and make the run a little prettier. Any knowledge on this matter would be great. We are first timers! Thanks!!!

I can only offer my opinion, so please take it as that.
My chickens free range on an 80 acre farm. There are all kinds of good things for them to eat here and some bad things as well.
They eat what they want and don't get sick.
They seem to know what's okay to eat and what's not.

Back when my grandpa raised chicken he would go to the local brewer and get there left overs to feed to the chicken and pigs. Nothing had every happen.
