We use those with our Coturnix quail as well as all our chickens. The best nipple waterers IMHO. Also great in colder weather as no water is stored in the nipple as its not like a ball valve holding the water back such as the vertical ones.

Great I’m going to order some thanks for your input !!
I can’t wait to get them up and installed

I purchased a heated waterer with these type of nipples for my quail. They wouldn't use it. But it may be because they weren't introduced when they were chicks.
Maybe they were expecting warm coffee! :D

Your probably right on not being introduced to it as chicks...but just keep in mind that when a bird does find water they usually remember where and not just necessairly chicks....all thirsty birds. When you get thirsty you tend to remember where the waters at and one will lead the others to it or they will see them pecking/drinking and come investigate.

just let one drip drops of water for a few hours.... they will learn when they get thirsty.

I left it in their run for weeks and they never drank from it. I moved it to the chicken coop and none of them touched it either. My chickens and ducks have no problem drinking from the vertical nipples.
