All my quail girls ceased laying around early October and my Roos stopped crowing, not too surprising as I know sunlight affects their hormones and by extension somewhat of their behavior.

Except in early November Saffron “one of the denizens of the bro coop “Roos only” started crowing again and acting like an angsty teenager. He was the only one behaving this way so I figured it was a personal issue.

Towards the end of November another one of my Roos, Peach “who lives in a third different hutch” started crowing again, and now in early December his brother Cloudberry “who I now know is not a female” just started crowing and acting like a stinkweed.

None of the girls are affected, yet all but two of my roos seems to think it’s spring despite there being next to no sunlight this time of the year where I am and what little light there is is still dwindling.

Any guesses at what’s going on?
