Horn like growth on chickens foot

All though this photo doesn’t show it, one chicken had this growth on its foot which actually curled around in a hook shape. It was very hard in touch. After washing regularly in tea tree oil then then covering in vaseline for many weeks, it one day just fell off. Her foot it obviously still sore and abit swollen but the skin has healed and has no real scab on it. Any ideas what it could of been?

Please post the pictures of what fell off and what her foot looks like now. It may help identify what it was.

Skin cancers can look like that so I would be interested in pictures after it came off. It could be overgrowth of horn or scar tissue from injury as well, as seen in this link below:
