HORROR in the Hen House today. :(((( (Long Story/Vent/Cry)

I know how it feels to loose members of your flock, I've lost my entire flock- minus a couple of banties when I was first starting out with chickens!! It can happen so suddenly and it's the worse when it's someones dog.
I hope Billy pulls through...give him lots of love.

I am soo very sorry for your loss. I really hope yoru roo makes it he is a very brave little sole.

Thank you for the new comments, but I guess I didn't really do a good job of conveying things by making a new post.

In the post entitled "Well, It's Over" by me, you will find that, unfortunately, Billy died just 2 days later.

this makes me so mad. If the neighbor was a decent they would at least pay for your birds. It scares me a little because I have started letting my chicks roam freely around me too. No dogs run loose in my neighborhood but there is the possibility of a stray coming through or a wild varmint. I never used to do it until I got chicks for my broody little silkie. I only had a roo and hen and I kept them under close watch. But when the chicks came, I started letting them out of the coop to scratch and they enjoyed it so much. I watch them pretty closely and never leave without putting them up in the run. I would hate to lose them, but I wonder if it isn't better knowing they would die happy rather than live cooped up. I hate for animals to be penned up all the time.

I have been thinking about giving my rooster away. Maybe Ishould keep the annoying little pest after all. LOL

I am really sorry you had to witness this.

I am so sorry for you loss. I have an Aunt in Ocala Florida. Her Man "big Red" was attacked by a dog and no longer has any tail feathers and is missing a wing on the right side.
But by the grace of God did he survive. I will keep you and your chickens in my prayers. Again I am so sorry.
