I just grew up in a circle of AQHA diehards and they have strong opinions when discussing Apps. I've had her for 5 years. I've heard a lot of variations of stories about her previous life. Vet believes she came off the track in Oklahoma where she was bred. It took every bit of those 5 years for her to calm down. To this day her reaction to the sight of a whip is extreme and she trembles in the horse trailer. She has horrific whip scars down her hips where hair never grew back and a big dip in her face where her old owners put her in a "brain chain" which was explained to me as an extreme version of a tie down. Don't know why they did because she's never been bad, just frightened sometimes.Great photos-great care. Strong, stout and flawless. How long have you had her and been working with her? How old is she? And what's wrong with appy's...? Besides they are bad sometimes... and super stubbornHow do you feel about the breed now? What other horses, breeds and ages do you have? Just curious

When it comes down to my opinion of them now, I'll probably ride this mares babies for the rest of my life. Maybe she will even throw some spots on one for me. She's a gem. I have a QH filly & a pony as well. But neither of her caliber or heart.
I know it's so embarrassing too because I usually cover the face scar with a bronc halter but people see her hips and I feel compelled to tell them it wasnt mepoor girl
How awful! The poor mare. My gelding is terrified of horse trailers. We have had to completely retrain him to ride in horse trailers. He had a meltdown in the float last year and almost killed me and Mum! We think someone has abused him in a float with a whip because you take one near him while he is in the float and he will flip!I just grew up in a circle of AQHA diehards and they have strong opinions when discussing Apps.
