How has everyone and their horses been lately? I'm checking up on the threads I'm on here since I'm finally not so busy lol! I've been helping out all day at winter camp at the barn on Monday and Tuesday, and I had a few other booked days as well.

Last week I had a day where I just went up there for a few hours to help out, and then I got to ride in the evening before it got dark. :D I rode a newer horse to the barn, her name is Ginger. She's a 6yo Thoroughbred--a woman and her daughter bought her and began to board here at our barn, but the thing is, Ginger isn't very well trained. She's broke to ride and is very tolerant but she has no idea how to do most things. And the other thing is, her owners are pretty new to horses too...

So they asked my trainer if she could get ridden more so she can be trained. I got to ride her after I finished chores, and she's very sweet other than getting nippy when you girth up. (It's similar to another horse I ride lol) She's actually pretty lazy for being I believe an off the track Thoroughbred ha! But I hope to ride her more in the future, particularly outside of lessons so I can help her along with her training. :)

And then this week has been three days of camp before Christmas, have no idea if they'll need my help next week as well. Camp went well when I did it lol! I love to help and it pays well too. ;)

Here's Axel watching us during one of the days we were feeding the horses hehe:

He's got the best side eye ever  (My sister rides him but I never have)

I also attached one of Ginger below! Anyone else got any pics lately? :)

I have not played with my boy in forever! They look terrible, like neglected children. Hombre is fat and snotty... Ugh, I NEED to get my wiggle on but both DH and I are up to our necks in projects. To my defense. DH has been on horse duty for the last 10 months or so... They looked WAY better the years I was on Horse duty. I'm going to have to take my job back!

I did well at my comp, I got 7th out of 30 people. Very cool. I got some pics of me warming him up before my comp:

Ginger sounds awesome! I love OTTB's, they're usually just like how you describe Ginger, tolerant of all kinds of things but don't know a lot. They're usually so fun to ride, learn fast in their training, talented for all kinds of things and willing to try whatever you ask!

My horses are still fine and happy, my current "barn drama" is only stressing me, not them. Out of the places I've visited so far, all are farther from home than I'd like, but several are places where my horses would be happy and within my price range. I'm hoping the self-care place near my house will work out, but some other possibilities would be OK too. I could also stay here, hold my nose and pay the $$ if need be, if she will work with me on other details.
So, I'm less stressed than I was last week, LOL.

Ah yeah, well, they still look beautiful! 😍 And like littledog said, I'm sure they don't mind the vacation lol!

She is! And how cool, they do seem like amazing horses. I've heard online of lots of people adopting OTTB's, but I've never rode or I think even seen a Thoroughbred in person until now. I'm used to our nice little Morgans (and one Quarter Horse); she is a 16hh giant ha! She's fun and feels a lot like the QH I ride. I think the biggest obstacle for her training is that she has no muscle right now; she really needs to build it up, which hopefully she will soon! A girl (who has trained horses) was helping me with some ground poles that'll help with that when I rode her, so hopefully I can do some more poles next time I ride.

Oh how cool! Congrats on placing so well!! :D You and Hudson look awesome. Didn't you say you were going to a dressage competition?

I'm glad your horses are still doing well, although I'm sorry to hear you've had to deal with this drama. Hopefully you'll find the perfect place for them soon! But I'm glad you're less stressed too. :)
