~HORSE IN NEED OF HELP~

We have a horse that is an ex-eventing horse and he has really bad arthritis and we use Next Level. I put it in his complete feed every night and is has worked wonders for him. My daughter is able to use him for her dressage lessons now. There are alot of products out there, you just have to find the one that works for your horse.

Yes I miss SA for sure, I've been back a few times to visit my family and always have a good time and STUFF myself full of Biltong! I now make my own, its a cross between Biltong and Jerky - I made a batch of it yesterday and its almost finished!

Garlic might make them do a couple circles before landing LOL, especially if you live in a hot climate that has flies year round...

There are dozens of products for arthritis , you mght try www.smartpakequine.com

They carry all products jsut about on the market and can be packaged in a daily dose for you and no thinking involved. Lubrsyn, cetal M, rescue EQ, amoung others have a great combo of guclos, condroitin, hy acid... They also have the break down of what each one costs per day.

For flies you really need a good fly spray that contains a pyrethrin for decent control.

One word of caution about Bute is that it can cause stomach ulcers if given for an length of time. I know this thru experience one of the horses I have was starting to colic after being on bute for a couple of weeks. What I would suggest is MSM and Glucosamine those seem to work great. One of the horses I had was 32 and that is all she was ever on.

For the bugs galic works and the product I tried this past summer in Florida was Bug Check. I do not know whtether you could get it in Africa but it is worth looking into because it does work. And the other thing I have tried but again I am not sure whether you could get it there are Fly Preditors which are tiny little wasp that kill the bug and fly larva.

When I owned an arthritic standardbred mare that I got off the track several years ago, the equine vet said that the cheapest thing was also one of the most effective for minor arthritis: MSM supplements.

Good luck!
Sarah
