Horse jumping :)

Just doing some research for the writing and I was just wondering what is the avarage height to start off with when they are just being trained for jumping?

They usually start off cantering/trotting over poles, then they raise the poles...to maybe 4 - 6" off the ground? I haven't done it myself, but I've seen it done.
