Smoke's 9, but he hasn't ever had a job, so after one good sesion you'd think he's a three or four year old

But that's kinda nice. He'll make a good pack horse during hunting season - if I can get him un-spookey enough.

Hopefully it will warm up this weekend so I can ride sneaks and make sure I and maybe my dad can use her during calving, especially with all this snow. I'll see if Lilly's joints are up to it in this cold weather. Bert wil be the last option. We really need another horse...

Ginger's 20. She used to be a packhorse - somehow. She's and arab, and she's the skinniet horse I've ever seen - if not skinny, then she's a boney old nag

Had to add to the "old horse" conversation... This is Rascal - registered name Rascal's Last Revenge - in December 1996 right after we purchased him in Florida. He was 20 yrs old, and the 1st horse for my husband. That's the husband riding him, for the first time, with no stirrups.... Rascal likes to GO! and fortunately, so did my husband. Ignore the dates on the photos - they are digital shots of OLD pictures in a photo album.

Me on Rascal, in Florida, Dec 1996.

Rascal at a rated show in OKC in 1998. (poor picture timing - he was really fighting the bit!)

Rascal now, at 40 years of age. Still gets ridden.... The grey is Khenny - he was my youngest, I lost him Oct 11th, 2016. It was a VERY hard loss. He was only 11.

Phantom's Lancer, at 32 years of age. I have owned him for 30 years. He was being ridden up until a few months ago. I am loosing him to squamous cell cancer, and he has gone downhill FAST but is still excited to slurp up his sloppy Triple Crown Senior meals, so I haven't let him go yet.

Lancer, on the far right, with me, at a show in 1989/1990? He was born black, turned bay, them went thru a "rose-gray" phase before dappling and becoming fleabit and he is now white. He was in his "rose-gray" phase in this photo.

Oran, my daughter's show Arab, at a show in Feb 2016, at age 21.

Oran again, Sept 2016, age 21.

And Khenny again - registered name Khindled Fire. Miss him like crazy.

. Wow you have a lot of old horses! Must be taking care of them right to get them to that age. So sorry about Khenny and about Lancer's health :( That's amazing you can still ride Rascal although judging by that first photo and the show one he seems like a very spunky horse lol I find it so interesting Lancer went through so many different color phases! Is that common or is he special? Aha did he stay in each phase long?

Every "gray" arab I've seen has changed color their whole life. Mom has a friend in AZ wgo breeds em. Gorgeous horses.

Wow that's really interesting. So is it a breed thing then? That's kind of cool. I bet they are gorgeous! Even just from these photos I can see it. They must be gorgeous in person!

So it looks like Lancer, Khenny, and Oran are all Arabs? And res, sorry again about Khenny

I'm pretty sure it's color genetics. Gray is so weirdly awesome
