Wow that is all so interesting. I had no idea.

And had no idea they purposely released draft horses!

What was the idea of that? I know you said improving but how? Bigger horses? Better feet? I suppose if they released QH the horses might have stayed relatively small? Gotten a little bigger but still small. So maybe they added the draft to counter the small size of the mustangs, kind of breeding two extremes, in hopes of a more medium sized or stockier horse?

They probably did it because, what cowboy rides a short-horse?

QHs are one of the most popular breeds of cow horses, so they probably figure that letting mustangs breed with them will make more people want a mustang to use for a cow horse. It ruins the mustang breed! It's like selecting a dorking to not be broody; more functional, yes, but dorkings have a loooong history of broodiness, and selecting them otherwise is detrimental to the breed.

Abigail, I'm being torn two ways... to breed Galicenos, or rescue mustangs.... grrr....I suppose that since mustangs and galicenos are pretty closely related, and since mustangs have an over population, whereas gali's are serverely under populated...... meh, still torn

Right? I want to breed CVHs but also want like 30 mustangs

Bear in mind, a lot of horses got used for pulling things, not just punching cows.

I'm so confused by it lol. Several others went for $1,000-$2,000 and I'm like what?
And 500+ bids?
If every one of those people bid on a different horse they could have all been adopted 10 times over.
And there's nothing really that special about the ones that went for thousands, other than kinda nice colors and they're tall.
I guess a lot of people have just been waiting for tall mustangs.
I've never ever given that much for a horse, especially not a giant wild 7 year old.
He is nice looking though

Wow that's crazy!! Maybe there's been like another movie or mustang adoption movement or something? Haha but yeah, I feel like tall mustangs are pretty rare so maybe that's why. But dang 7 years old!? I must have missed that part! Isn't that old for a mustang? I think I read over 5 they're harder to train? I could maybe see that price on a foal or a yearling or two year old or maybe one of those started horses they adopt out but not for a completely wild untrained 7 year old... good luck with that... maybe they're rich lol

Oh come on people..... the most colorful mustangs I've seen are in Oregon... all the rest are blacks, bays, and sorrels, with a few grays scattered throughout

I like short horses. Like Smoke!

I'm pretty sure his momma was a mustang. His sire was a reg. QH though.

I like the shorties too! There was one mustang on there (went for a couple thousand) that was 16.1!
That hoss would intimidate me.
I've got 3 short ones, and then Jasmine will probably be big but I've got 2 years to prepare myself for that lol
