I have some I hatch that don't really eat until 24 hours after hatch.

I know but there is no way I'd let these go that long just because they could.
I'm a firm believer in the quicker they eat the better.

I give all my newly hatched chicks NutriDrench drops 3-4 times a day until they are eating well. That generally helps a good deal. I don't try forcing them to eat if they aren't ready.
