Nope, posts are absolutely fine. Chickens do not eat or breathe solid posts
Anyway, we're going with the hardware mesh, and since we live right on the edge of the shield, we have a bagillion large rocks lying around the property which we'll make a border for the run out of.
Ha, yes, there are *some* advantages of all the clutter the glaciers left behind, aren't there. We've got that here too

Haha, I didn't see them really when we went to view the house the first few times, but around the fences there is like a layer/wall of large shield rocks, and since we're taking down the gross old falling down farm fence to put up nice new horse fence, we're going to move some of them to the run area.
And, the reason I was looking at the no-climb, is cause we use it on the farm out west for our horse paddocks due to the terribly huge amount of wolves, and predators... and it is no-climb for predators..., ordinarily the wolves would climb over the fence and attack the horses, btw with this stuff, they can't get a good enough grip on the fence wire.
It's not the best to work with, -_- but it works in the end.
We're putting up fence rails, we found super cheap cedar from the supplier in Norwood, getting 8ft posts and 10ft posts, plus the half-log rails. So excited!
