It happens occassionally. Usually by mistake. Trust me, some horses have clumsy mouths and they can't throw up even if they eat something they shouldn't

I know about some Herbivores that occasionally nibble on meat, Hipo do it , hares do it, deer do it but I didn't know abaout horses.

I suspect it's learned behavior. I would trust horses, goats, and other herbivores to Not eat chicks, until they did. Then i would never trust them again.

Horses don't have hands and like many other species that don't have hands they will bite and nibble on things to see what they are. Albeit some more aggressively so then others.
