Horses, Halters and Turn-out

Ive always used really cheap thin leather halters for turnout. I do not trust my drunken redneck neighbors not to wreck a 4wheeler or snowmobiler threw ouR fence (again) so I would like to not use a halter for turn out, but don't feel safe doing so. I never use any sort of halter in the paddock or stall ever.

I never leave a halter on my horse or her blanket for the very reasons stated by others. I have also witnessed the horrible aftermath of a horse getting its halter caught on something, foot, something in the stall, just tied to a trailer. Its just not worth it. I can, thankfully, lead my horse in with just holder her under her chin. If there is food involved by coming in, she's all for it.
Hope this helps.

And this was all this past summer!

She fell in the pond this past february while trying to walk across the ice. I didn't get pics of that one, but it totally sliced up her coronet band. She was standing int he field steaming and shivering.

I swear she will be the death of me! Yet she did this all on her own........

So there is hope for her yet!
