"I'm kind of glad that I've found a friend," Brandywine said. "I know all of the horses in the herd, but have never been good friends with any of them." Brandywine swished her tail, slapping a fly. "Winter's coming soon. We should hopefully be able to cross the river when it freezes over. Some of these foals have never even seen snow or ice."

"It will be a fun experience for them then," Phantom said. "I've never had a friend either, unless you count dirt as a good friend." He swished his tail as the fly that had just bothered her landed on him.
