"Oh, nothing," she replied. She had just not noticed Phantom's resuming in the walk, and was worried about another wolf.
"Alright," Phantom said and continued, his previous mates grave wasn't too far away now. "I remember walking this path with him after she died," Phantom began, "Explaining to him why his mother was not coming was the hardest thing I ever did, then I had to find ways to entertain him, his mother was always the one doing that so it was difficult. Then the cat got to him and I laid on this path for days, not wanting to move, I do not like this path and I feel like it was a mistake to bring you on it. I do not want to add you to my bad memories on this path," he finished.

Brandywine chuckled at him. "You're paranoid. Don't worry, I'll stay safe."

Once they had reached his previous mate's grave he laid down in front of it. "If only I could have found a cure," he whispered to the grave, then turning to Bradywine he said, "She always had a soft heart, and she couldn't resist helping a little squirrel that looked sick, she couldn't save him and she got sick too," he drew in a shuddering breath and pressed his forehead against the large grave.

Her eyes caught a flash of fur here, a glinting eye there. Penny looked around nervously. She had gone quite a ways from the herd, and she doubted anyone could help her if she was attacked

Penny’s heart pounded as the brush around her rustled. Stepping out from the cover of the branches, five wolves approached, beginning to circle her hungrily. Penny whinnied fearfully and took another step back, preparing to flee, but she almost rammed into another wolf that was behind her. It seemed to be grinning at her evilly
