Horses!!!!!!!!

I was excited there was a horse thread, but it seems to have taken a sad turn. That's the good and the bad of these forums, or forae? Quack House is watching my grammar ha! It cheers me up as I'm doing my chores to feel that there are so many other people out there living the same kind of life, same routines, same joys, same anxieties, same tragedies. So even though its silly to expect they might understand me, I still hope they might understand me.

I've got four horses: old grey pony, Caddy; sweet old Quarter Horse, was my riding partner, Allie; a Northern Dancer great granddaughter like Bunnygal, MacKenzie, my daughter's eventing horse; and finally a little brat of a Welsh pony, anybody want him? Liam.

That was pretty clean. Well done!

I'm really not the grammar police. I'd have to arrest myself way to often! Sounds like we live parallel lives, for sure. I can't wait to have more chickens to keep me company in the barn next year, with my tunes, and my four ponies.

It is comforting to know others share our passions, isn't it? I'm like the black sheep of my family with all my critters ~ like Elie May Clampet. It's not the life for everyone, for sure. And my siblings are not the country types, at all! Neither are most of my colleagues. Apparently it's bizarre to discuss conversations you've had with your chickens or horses.

Who knew?

Oh I had forgotten Ellie May Clampett and all her critters! Goodness, I hope that's not how I got imprinted! I thought it was because of Philip in the Enid Blyton mysteries, or maybe that beautiful woman who lived in the woods in that Disney movie about the cat Thomasina. Please don't let it be Ellie May Clampett!!!!

I was bonded with her more then your average horse person. I have severe anxiety, claustrophobia, and emetophobia. My anxiety and depression used to be so bad 7 years ago that I was VERY close to being put in the hospital as I was very dehidrated and not eating. I also have agoraphobia and it as well was really bad that I wouldn't get out of bed, I'd even hold my pee and only get up to pee 2 times a day. Abby has saved my life just like I did hers, so no, I can't just move on and forget about things because she's dead
TherryChicken,

Please don't get me wrong. I'm trying to support you, not minimize your loss. I can appreciate how much your horse played a part in your own healing, and how deep your relationship was with her. My horses, (specifically one of them, who I raised from a weanling) play a part in my overall health. They keep me fit, and in the present. They are my therapists, my oasis in a very fast-paced lifestyle. My horses are actually therapy animals for a local psychologist who uses them for the occasional Equine Assisted Therapy.

Sometimes, I think that's what horses do best. I think they bear our burdens, and sooth us, if we are quiet enough to listen. I truly believe that they are very developed in ways that we are not; in intuition, in spirit.

I understand you want to talk about your lovely mare, and the unique relationship you shared, if only for a brief time. And, I also get that the circumstances were misunderstood and that caused some unwanted conflict for you.

I only wanted to suggest to you, especially if you struggle with anxiety, that you may still get those opinions if you upload a bunch of pictures. There are some folks that just thrive on conflict. And, I guess, you have to weigh the benefits of being able to talk about her story in an open forum, with the possible negative outcome if a few people drive the story in the wrong direction. That's why I suggested maybe having the conversation in a private way (private messaging).

I'm sorry for your loss. It's obvious that she was very dear to you and that you still are grieving deeply. I didn't mean to minimize that.

What's the matter? You don't like rope belts? Skinny jeans? Don't tell me you haven't used binder twine to hold your pants up, or together.

Hey! My mare is due to foal at the end of this month. It will be my first horse that has foaled, so I don't really know what to do. Any tips?
