Horses!!!!!!!!

Quote: Handsome indeed! And you're quite right, chestnut x cremello should be a palomino - perhaps the reddish tones in her mane will shed out. I've noticed that horses have their own ideas about genetics, though - I own 2 palominos, (1 mini, 1 QH) and both have black hairs in their manes and tails. The QH might be a sooty palomino, but there's nothing "sooty" about the mini, so she's a bit of mystery.

Can u post pics of your mini and quarter?
Don't have any pics of the QH (crazy, I know, since I've known her for 5 years and owned her for 2), but here's the mini: (Post-pony party. It could be worse - yesterday, she wore bunny ears!)
Very beautiful
Lots of things lol i think alot of us were wondering if there is a baby yet!!
lol We walked out to check on Sugar at 2:00 and look what was there!!!!!!!! A perfect little Filly!!!! Her name is Soleil (the French word for sun). She is adorable!!!! I LOVE her!!!! Sugar delivered by her self. And nothing went wrong! I am so excited!!!!!
Congrats on your little chestnut filly! Foal colors are often very different from the adult colors; I'm thinking this baby may be as dark as her momma when she sheds out. Mares can be soooooo sneaky - glad things went well and you have a beautiful little gal to love on!
We have just under an acre and we don't have a use for the pasture, so we let a neighbor use it for two of his horses. One of which hasn't had human contact in like, a year? So she doesn't go near anyone willingly at the moment. So apparently they told my mother that that horse was pregnant, but she failed to tell me, then forgot about it completely. The horse didn't show her pregnancy, so I had no idea. So when there was a newborn foal in the pasture this morning, you can imagine how surprised I was...
This, on the other hand, absolutely burns me up. Anira, I am not yelling at you, I'm just yelling. That mare is in TERRIBLE condition for a newly foaled mare. Her body condition score can't be more than about a 3; how in the world can she be expected to produce milk for that young'un!? To say nothing of what this has already done to the foal. There is a protocol of shots and wormings that are designed to make sure that the foal has the best possible start on life; if this mare hasn't been handled in about a year, obviously, this hasn't been done for her. Clearly, the mare hasn't had adequate nutrition, either, so the foal has been shorted all ways 'round. Nursing a foal generally takes a toll even on the healthiest mares, and this mare is already underweight - :rant  :he :smack OK, rant over.
I agree. The mare is skinny and the foal with out shots, well ok wild horses survive with out shots. That's not such a big deal as the mare being skinny. With out proper nutrition the mares condition will go down hill as the gives all of her nutrition to the foal. Best if wishes and prayers for them. Anira just keep dn eye on them please!

It'll all work out. My mare when she foaled she scored a 2 afterwords at the highest! She did well. Just make sure she is fed well and she will take care of the rest

Palomino foals are sometimes born with red highlights, they will go away and the foal does look palomino, probably going to be dark! So so pretty!

Ho
