Horses!!!!!!!!

Actually, it's what's inside the beetle that is the problem, not the outside of the beetle. I've heard that the more processed the product, the more toxin (provided the beetles are there in the first place). A number of years ago, a friend of mine lost half of her rabbit herd practically overnight, and the suspicion was blister beetles in the rabbit feed (which was alfalfa based).

That's good to know. Scary, but good to know. I feed soaked timothy cubes to my oldest horses. Can blister beetles cause problems in them?

I reported the owner of the horses to the deputy sheriff. He just stopped by to look at them, but he has to go out on a call (small town, middle of nowhere; short-staffed right now). He'll be back tomorrow to take pictures.

As soon as he left the owner came over to let them out into our "parking" area behind the house where there's a bunch of taller grass. Small town, someone told him the cops were looking at his horses.

I'm do glad u did that!
At least the sherriffs as there even if it was verify to see the horses not In the pasture. If he comes back later today or tomorrow the mare will still be skinny witch is what he needs to see. I hate they got tipped off. Maybe now they will at least take care of them but most the time people like that only take care of them till the spot light is off if them then thru go right back to not taking care of them. Did u happen to take pictures if the mare b/4 she had the foal. That way u can show them what she looked like full term.
Good luck keep us posted!

I have 6 horses currently. 5 of which are rescues. Weve been doing rescues for awhile now. Weve managed to take in 27 horses in a year and rehome them. All costs come out of our pockets. We recieve no donations or state funding. We do it because we love them.
These are some of the ones weve taken in.

I wish I could afford to do that. Well I kinda have over the years. Dolly my first pony lived to be 55 years old. We bought her from a man but we bought her b/c her barn was a oak tree and her pasture was a 30 rope tied to the tree or he would turn her loose for the day but he lived be hide a major high way.my dad offered to buy and he took it. Then just out of high school I went to a horse auction and bought a 27 year old 16 hand QH, witch was nothing but bone stretched over skin. I had him for another wonderful 6 months but from do many years if malnutrition he died of heart failure he laid down and put his head in my lap and took his last breath. I miss both of them with all my heart. Both the best horse/ pony in the world. I currently have 5. Not rescues but they were either really cheap or freebies. Also all wonderful!!!
All of your horses are beautiful! Keep on rescuing!!!!!!!!
