Ok since there is a lot of talk about keeping chickens warm in the
Coop & Run Design & Construction Forum.
I was asked to post this recipe. This drink will help keep you warm as you trudge out to check on your chickens!! So here you go 2mnypets!!!
In a large sauce pan combine...
1 pound box brown sugar
1 pound box powder sugar
1 pound butter (only butter no substitues)
1 quart vanilla ice cream
1 teaspoon allspice
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon nutmeg
Heat slowly over low heat until like cake batter. Remove from heat and allow to come to room temperature. Put in freezer.
To serve:
Place 1 heap teaspoon of batter in each mug.
Then add:
1 jigger rum
1 jigger brandy
Fill with hot milk or water and mix. Sprinkle with nutmeg. we only use the hot milk in our mugs makes it a nice rich creamy drink!
* Batter MUST stay frozen and scoop out as needed.*
Jigger= about 1 1/2 oz of course you can plus or minus the amount of rum and brandy to your taste.
This make a large amount but what I do is fill mason jars with the batter and when we go to a party or over to a friend's house I bring over a mason jar of it. Like a Hostess gift.
You can also serve it as a virgin drink. Virgin means NO Rum and Brandy added
We grew up with these all winter although I think Mom use to spike our drinks on occasion
Oh and yes it is HIGHLY fat free
