I want to raise silkies in northeastern Texas where the temp range is from 105 in summer to 30 in winter. are these extremes ok for them? I don't want to make my chicks miserable. What are some suggestions for keeping them comfortable?

Many Silkies in Texas and Arizona, Misters are great for keeping poultry cool in Summer. They will do great in the winter with 30 degree temps.

My silkies LOVE thier fans, they stand in front of them and even dustbath near them. it has been in the 90's here, consistently for a few weeks. We dont get a lOT of hot weather, but they do just fine when we do. I never tried a mister.....only on my llamas and I didnt like it, as it rots the wool. I would be afraid of fungal infections or feather rot, with chickens. but that's just me.
